edubreak®CAMPUS

Time flexibility with blended learning

For over fifteen years, we at Ghostthinker have been involved in digital education in sport, higher education and vocational training. Our focus is on didactic concepts and suitable technology for teaching, learning and working with collaborative videos. Social video is at the heart of our concepts and technologies. This method not only enables targeted reflection processes at different levels, but also facilitates mutual understanding and the development of a contemporary and open communication culture. We are convinced that educational programs benefit considerably from the use of digital solutions. However, their maximum impact can only be felt when they build a bridge to the real world of the learners. In our opinion, this is only possible in blended formats.

Intensive learning through social video learning

In an ideal blended learning setting, online and face-to-face phases alternate. However, it is also possible in a purely online setting to design synchronous and asynchronous phases in such a way that an interactive and shared learning character is created. The aim should always be to bring the respective learning input to life in the world in which it can best unfold its effect. Video as a medium supports the bringing together of the synchronous and asynchronous worlds exceptionally well. Our technologies all have a special video player that enables collaborative video annotation, marking and tagging to make the essentials visible for yourself as well as for others. A central component of our concepts is the combination of synchronous and asynchronous video work. This resolves the break that often exists on e-learning platforms between learning materials and opportunities for exchange. Written video analysis, discussion, reflection and communication now take place directly in the video, to the second. This enables collaborative learning online.

edubreak®CAMPUS - a place for intensive teaching

The online phases take place in the edubreak®CAMPUS online learning environment specially developed for social video learning. We offer this as a Software as a Service model (SaaS). This means that you do not buy the online learning environment, but rent it and thus benefit from a constantly expanding range of tools.

The SaaS model offers the following advantages:

  • Lower costs for hardware, software & personnel.

  • Mobility: users can access the software from anywhere via web browser / app.

  • No maintenance work on hardware, as this is carried out by us.

  • We take care of rectifying software defects and (if contractually agreed) further developing the software.

If the Campus does not have a particular function that you require, we can implement it for you in the form of a development contribution. You can find out more here.

Create as many courses as you like on your Campus. Invite your users directly to the courses, protected and with different roles. Do you have various sub-organizations that should also have a campus? No problem, this can be solved using sub-client logic.

The standard tools in the Campus include: edubreak®player, edubreak®blog, edubreak®conceptmap, edubreak®portfolio, edubreak®lecture, edubreak®certificate, edubreak®poll, edubreak®test, edubreak®assignment, edubreak®cockpit, edubreak®teams, edubreak®time & edubreak®remote

You can use the edubreak®dialog to conduct Zoom meetings directly in the respective course or, alternatively, independently of the course.

When using edubreak®, we now offer you even greater flexibility in allocating places and booking customized contingents for your training and further education courses. In addition to the tried-and-tested Campus Flat rate, you can now also allocate course-specific places via an on-demand option. As a campus manager, you can decide for yourself which people you want to allocate a campus or course place to.

Campus spots (via Campus-Flat)

When you book a Campus Flat, you receive a corresponding number of campus spots for your booking period (contract year). People who have been allocated a campus spot by their campus manager can be a member of any number of courses. The prerequisite for this is, of course, that they are invited to the respective courses. The campus spot is linked to one person in the current contract year and cannot be changed or passed on.

This tariff is ideal for people who are active on your campus over a longer period of time. In addition to lecturers and supervisors, this also includes participants who take part in courses lasting longer than four months.

Course spots (via on-demand option)

A course spot enables the person concerned to participate in a specific course and is charged on a monthly basis (per 30 days). After the end of the course, the person can continue to access the course and all content, but can no longer become active themselves (no longer upload new videos or create posts). The course spot is linked to one person for the duration of the course and cannot be changed or passed on.

This tariff is particularly suitable for short courses (max. 4 months). Beyond this, a campus spot is generally more attractive in terms of price. The price per participant is always based on the size of the flat rate booked. This means that the more campus spots are booked, the cheaper the course spot will be.

You decide who gets which place when you invite people to the campus. Of course, you can also mix participants with different tariffs in your courses.

edubreak® recognizes the respective allocation and carries out a corresponding count. You can also find further information on this in our GTCs.

edubreak®SHARE - a place for sharing good tasks

Especially in cross-location networks, it is important not to keep reinventing the wheel, but to make valuable learning resources accessible to each other. With edubreak®SHARE, they have the opportunity to share and discuss learning materials in the form of assignments across courses and campuses. This not only enables the efficient use of resources, but also the opportunity for collegial quality development (versus a top-down strategy) through dialog between those responsible for education.

edubreak®dialog - tool for synchronous exchange via video conference

With edubreak®dialog, you can supplement asynchronous teaching-learning scenarios with live webinars or online training sessions, meaning that an additional meeting service or video conferencing system is no longer necessary. With edubreak®dialog, you can invite up to 300 participants (depending on the Campus Flat option) and support the coordinated exchange of ideas beyond your own location with the screen sharing, chat, whiteboard, etc. functions

edubreak®match - create exams directly in video

This tool combines the advantages of video with efficiently evaluable single-choice and click questions. Learners can use this didactic approach to develop pure factual knowledge into action knowledge and ultimately into action competence. edubreak®match can be easily added to a new or existing campus at any time. These in-video questions, quizzes and exams take the possibilities of social video learning to a new level.

Information on multi-year contracts and discounts

Of course, it is possible to upgrade at any time during the contract period.

When concluding a multi-year contract, we offer a discount of 5% for two years and 8% for three years. A discount of 13% for four years and 21% for five years. Please note the desired term on the offer acceptance form.

The prices for course places are excluded from the multi-year discount. This also applies to consulting services and participation in Academy offers.

edubreak®COMMUNITY

Knowledge management and modern association communication

Knowledge - this is the central resource in the distributed sports system as well as in many organizations and associations outside of sport. Originally developed for the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), the “Wissensnetz” is an online community environment that enables an informal exchange of information and knowledge for organizations and associations of all kinds.

Users can exchange information with other members of the organization, receive interesting information and materials on the fields of action of their practice, post their own contributions and materials and set up their own groups to exchange information on specific topics. The edubreak®COMMUNITY enables a continuous exchange and transfer of knowledge and thus creates a framework for modern association communication and work.

What added value does the exchange in online communities offer?

The integration of virtual solutions opens up a wide range of opportunities, particularly for informal educational processes and modern knowledge management. Today, it is possible to exchange information in communities across locations, flexibly and in a self-organized manner. Whether organized within an organization or worldwide - the common interest connects and supports individual and collective progress. In social community learning, we share our knowledge and skills with others. The dissemination of information breaks down knowledge silos and triggers the joint development of creative solutions. Knowledge sharing and reflection can unfold. Transparent communication at eye level promotes participation and a culture of trust within the organization.

Learning from the successes and challenges of others strengthens self-image, the image of others and personal development. It also has a positive effect on the sense of belonging and team spirit as well as identification with the organization. Online communities are an ideal tool for driving digital transformation and enabling lifelong learning.

Service package for operation and maintenance (SaaS)

Below you will find a brief summary of the services provided by Ghostthinker GmbH for the operation and maintenance of the knowledge network.

Operation and maintenance (Managing)

This refers to the operation of the application, i.e. edubreak®COMMUNITY, itself. Security-relevant here is the installation of updates to the basic software, if required. The updates are installed on a separate system, tested and only then transferred to the productive environment. The provision of a corresponding test system is part of the management of the application. In the course of this, the Ghostthinker team can also respond very quickly to any technical problems arising from support (see 2.4) and resolve them. As the workload and service life of the software solution increases, the team also provides support and proactive measures to ensure data consistency.

Maintenance of the infrastructure

The Ghostthinker team takes care of all important software components on the server side. Relevant security updates are tested and installed. Part of the maintenance is also a valid backup concept in order to be able to quickly return to a previous state in the event of a failure or possible data inconsistency. The infrastructure is included in Ghostthinker's monitoring system and monitored 24 hours a day in terms of availability and response time. Regular analyses enable potential problems to be identified and rectified at an early stage.

Hosting - high stability and availability

The hosting of important online software solutions is characterized by high availability and good performance, especially at high workloads. Here, the Ghostthinker team relies on a server infrastructure that is always up to date. If required, provision can be distributed across several servers (cluster operation). Setup and configuration is carried out by the Ghostthinker team. The systems involved are set up and all required services (see above) are installed and configured.

The servers are operated by our infrastructure partner Hetzner in Germany and in accordance with current industry standards in terms of security and availability. The energy requirements for the data centers are covered 100 percent by carbon dioxide-free and environmentally friendly hydropower.

Support - direct support

Registered users and guests (users without a user account) can contact the support team with problems, queries or comments using a written ticket system. The ticket system can be accessed via "Help & Support" anywhere in the edubreak®COMMUNITY. Direct support via telephone or online meeting is not part of this offer. Simple queries can be dealt with directly by 1st. Level Support and larger problems or changes must be passed on to the development team (3rd Level Support).

Development participation - achieving more together

It is part of Ghostthinker's philosophy to develop new concepts and functions together with customers and cooperation partners. The financing model of development participation also enables us to offer larger additional functions at short notice. In concrete terms, this means that you as a customer and cooperation partner can initiate new developments through financial support and thus benefit from these new functionalities and modules at a very early stage. Of course, you can continue to use these innovations free of charge, while other customers may incur additional costs for their use. We use different participation models here.

  • Model 1: Ghostthinker pays half of the development costs. You decide which share of the other half you want to take on. For the remaining share, we look for other organizations that also want to participate in the development. The Ghostthinker team will decide on the exact date of development as soon as all shares have been allocated.

  • Model 2: The organization and Ghostthinker split the development costs equally. The development is implemented promptly, but with a lead time of at least six months. The exact date is decided by the Ghostthinker team, depending on the available resources in the respective OKR cycle.

  • Model 3: The organization assumes 100% of the development costs. Once the exact details of the development have been agreed, it is implemented as quickly as possible and reasonable, but with a lead time of at least four months.

Conceptual services for user stories are billed separately.

Media didactic blended learning consulting

The introduction of a blended learning concept requires not only a special technology, but above all a suitable didactic concept. Tailored to the specific requirements of your offer, this will form the basis for future educational programs. The key here is to optimally combine the didactic requirements with the appropriate technical tools. In addition, the implementation phase in the organization is crucial for the successful acceptance of the new offerings by the various target groups.

For more than 15 years, we have been supporting organizations from the sports and higher education sectors in the https://ghostthinker.de/de/blended-learning offerings with social video learning. Due to our proximity to the university, social video learning in particular is repeatedly used and studied scientifically. These studies help us to continuously develop this special teaching/learning method, which is geared towards developing skills.

In addition to our digital learning technologies, we at Ghostthinker offer you media didactic support that is optimally tailored to your requirements. This includes the recording of initial ideas, the development of a concrete media didactic concept and support during implementation in the organization. Depending on the individual requirements, the consultation includes online workshops, personal meetings, the joint development of tasks, advice on the creation of teaching materials or presentations.

Technical consulting

Our focus is on didactic needs. To this end, we develop tailor-made software that provides optimal support in achieving the didactic goal. Our entire team specializes in the development of solutions for formal and informal educational formats with social video learning. In addition to developing our own edubreak® software products, we have extensive experience in connecting other systems to edubreak® as well as integrating edubreak® into third-party systems.

This expertise, built up over the past 15 years, enables us to provide you with reliable advice on technical issues.

International awards

The underlying media didactic concept and the media technology implementation with a focus on "trainer education" have already won several awards. In 2011, edubreak® received the eureleA, in 2015 the eLearning Award, in 2016 the iELA International E-Learning Award, in 2018 the iELA Honorable Mention and in 2021 edubreak® was awarded the Comenius EduMedia Medal.

edubreak®Academy - preparatory training for an optimal start

In the edubreak® Academy, prospective instructors learn about the technical handling and the didactic potential / possibilities of edubreak®CONCEPT. The training lasts approximately four weeks and is designed as an online course with online meetings. The exciting thing is that the future instructors first take on the perspective of the participants. In the second part of the training, they then take on their actual role, namely that of the speakers. The aim of the training is to optimally prepare future instructors for their tasks on campus. In addition to classic introductory courses, we also offer the opportunity to prepare individual topics on a customer-specific basis. You can find the next dates at http://start.edubreak-academy.de.

Online tutor - your assistant for the first course

Even after the Academy, there is the option of support from experienced members of our team - the online tutors. The online tutor supports teachers in particular, but also learners in their work and tasks in the edubreak® online environments. This support is particularly interesting for the first course cycles in edubreak®. An online tutor supports the preparation and implementation of the courses with practical technical and didactic tips and impulses for tasks, formulations and feedback.
